Read labels without changing controls
Photograph the entire assembly, manufacturer plate, model, size, serial, tags, test cocks, valves, orientation, piping, drain or relief area, and surrounding clearance. Do not turn handles, remove caps, block discharge, or use the assembly as a general building shutoff. Note any leakage or damaged tag from a safe position.
Find the program record
Ask the property manager and BWSC which records, testing, tester qualifications, forms, schedules, or approvals apply to the actual service. Scope access and outage
A test, repair, or replacement may interrupt a protected system and can discharge water. Define who authorizes the outage, who depends on the line, where water is contained, which related system operator must attend, and whether permits or inspections apply. Work involving fire protection or specialized equipment may require separate qualified parties.
Retain the complete test trail
Save device identity, location, protected use, tester identity and qualification as required, measurements, result, repairs, retest, submitted form, and official acknowledgment. Mark replacement assemblies and access on the property plan. A sticker alone can be lost or misread, so the building record should preserve the dated supporting document.
